MS Dhoni who scored 56 runs of 61 balls, smashed the West Indian bowler, Oshane Thomas for 16 runs in the last over of the innings. However, the Indian wicket-keeper and batsman was criticised by the fans for his slow start at the beginning of his innings.

Indian bowler, Jasprit Bumrah defended the former Indian skipper and said on ‘bcci.tv’ that the innings that MS Dhoni played is the kind which is very under-rated. He said that at times, you might feel that he is batting slowly, but sometimes it is important that he takes time.

Bumrah also mentioned that MS Dhoni absorbs the pressure and takes the game deep. According to the Indian bowler, it was a top rated innings which got the team to the total of 268, which was good on that kind of pitch. Bumrah who took 2 consecutive wickets in the match against the Windies revealed that while bowling the hat-trick ball, he was hoping the West Indian batsman, Kemar Roach to expect a fast Yorker. So, he thought that he would bowl a slower one. He said that he executed the ball well but the batsman managed to stop it.

India will next encounter the hosts on Sunday, June 30 at Edgbaston cricket ground.
