New Zealand vs South Africa, ICC Cricket World Cup: Kane Williamson gets 100 as NZ seal close game

The Cricket World Cup 2019 saw its first last-over finish as New Zealand pipped South Africa by 4 wickets in a close game at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The match, curtailed to 49 overs a side due to rain, was a low-scoring thriller as South Africa notched up 241 runs, which was not an easy chase for the Black Caps.

However, skipper Kane Williamson held one end up and got his 12th ODI hundred in the last over of the run chase, which also helped New Zealand seal the game. The South African bowlers kept things tight in the middle overs but regular dropped catches and missed chances meant that they were always on the backfoot.

South Africa are now eight on the points table with just 3 points and are more or less out of the World Cup, while New Zealand are on top of the table with 9 points from 5 games and are one of the two teams who are unbeaten thus far. India is the other unbeaten side.

This is how Twitter reacted to the close game and Williamson's hundred.
