New Zeland pipped South Africa in the nail-bitter

An exceptional display of cricket by New Zealand on Wednesday handed them the fourth straight win in the ICC World Cup 2019. The Men in Black, chasing down the 242-run total in the good bowling surface of Edgbaston, crossed the line in the last over of the innings. While South Africa had one more poor outing, losing the fourth match of the tournament.

There were several stunning performances in the match from both the teams. Here are the highlights.

Rassie van der Dussen’s one-man show

South African batting has not been up to the mark in the World Cup. Their batsmen have struggled quite often than not. However, young van der Dussen showed a lot of promise in a few matches and played a special inning today as well. The swashbuckler made quick 67 runs, helping Proteas post a fighting 241 runs on board. Apart from him, Hashim Amla also found some touch as he scored 55-run knock.

Kane Willaimson and Colin de Grandhomme

New Zeland lost a few early wickets in the chase as South African bowlers struck to right lengths. However, captain Kane Williamson fought brilliantly. The Men in Black were reduced to 80-4 yet Kane alongside James Neesham formed a stand.

Though after the latter too departed, t was the turn for Colin de Grandhomme to support the Kiwi skipper. He made sure to not disappoint, scoring a scintillating knock of 60 runs in 47 balls. Lastly, it was Kane Williamson who steered New Zealand to win with his maiden World Cup hundred (106* runs).
