Padmaavat Music Review: Sanjay Leela Bhansali weaves magic for Shahid, Deepika and Ranveer's film

Magnificent, royal and large canvas - these are the words that we associate with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Now, the director is coming up with the movie of the year - Padmaavat. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles. From Sanjay Leela Bhansali, when it comes to music, the expectations are a little high and well, the music of Padmaavat won't disappoint in any way.

Ghoomar

Ghoomar ramvane aap padharo saa, Aavo ji aavo ji Ghoomardi khelba ne, Padharo sa Ghoomardi khelba ne. Balam tharo gurar gurar guraave, Aaj mharo jivdo ghano hichkaave!!

Well, the name in itself connotes the song has undertones from the folk music of Rajasthan. If you have been to the desert land, you would agree that this song resonates the culture of Rajasthan and fits the movie well. Shreya Ghoshal and Swaroop Khan's powerful vocals take the song to an entirely different level. The lyrics are penned by A M Turaz and you would praise him for the way he has predicted the culture through words. The song starts with the tunes of Ravanahatta and then you also get to listen to Nagara, Kamaicha, Tabla, Algoza, Dhol and Khartal. The song is actually one of the best tracks and it also defines the legacy of the Rajputana princess - royalty and culture walk hand-in-hand and Ghoomar puts a stamp on it.

Ek Dil Ek Jaan

If you are in true love with someone, Ek Dil Ek Jaan is sure to leave you teary-eyed. From lyrics to musical setting, this song is magnificently beautiful and soothing to the ears. If you are the one who understands music, you love how the song starts with tunes of chimes and it's the moment that you get carried away and flow with the music. Shivam Pathak has lent his vocals to the song and you would fall out of words for praising the singer as he takes the song to a higher pitch with an ease. The song has a buffet of musical instruments to offer -  Ghungharu, Harmonium, Santur, Sarangi and Tabla. You can listen to this song with your loved one sitting on a terrace and just looking to stars above you - well, there will be no words needed as the song will spell its charm. 

Khalibali

For this song, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has got his trump card - Shail Hada and you would fall in love with the Middle Eastern touch that has been given to the song. Shivam Pathak has also complemented Shail. The song is pictured on Alauddin Khilji and it does leave a strong impact. Zumara's music has been used to give that Arabic feel to the song. Jabse pehna hai maine yeh ishq-e-sehra, Khalibali ho gaya hai dil, Duniya se mera khalibali ho gaya hai dil - lyrics are penned by A M Turaz and you somehow get a clue that Khilji is in love. 

Nainowale Ne

Neeti Mohan with her vocals has put her soul to Nainowale Ne. Music composer Sanjay Leela Bhansali has used the tunes of Sarangi, Sitar, Santur, Esraj, Surmandal and Tabla. It's a love track and the lyrics have been penned by Siddharth – Garima. If you are the one who loves slow romantic numbers, you would like the song. 

Holi (Manganiyars & Langa's folk song)

As the title suggests, it is more of a folk song. Richa Sharma and Shail Hada have added the much-needed traditional touch to the song. Holi aayi re piya ji re des re, Holi aayi re piya ji re des re...Mhaaro Shyam hathilo Kanho, Kesar khelat hori re - the song connotes victory and the festival of colors. This song is created to just to suit a particular situation in the film. 

Binte Dil

Binte Dil is one of the little different tracks that we have heard in a long time. You would love the Arabic touch given to the song. For this, SLB has roped in Arijit Singh and you will be amazed by how the singer has sung the song - that husky voice by Singh will blow your mind. 

Verdict: In a nutshell, Sanjay Leela Bhansali as a composer has roped in versatile singers for his dream project. The film's music won't disappoint you in any way.
