Bhanurekha Ganesan, known by her stage name, Rekha was born on October 10, 1954. She appeared in many hindi films and kissed success through her versatility in acting.
She has acted in over 180 films in career span of more than 4 decades. She has often appeared in women-oriented films as well as parallel cinema, making her a powerhouse of acting. She has won three filmfare awards, two of them for best actress, and one for best supporting actress for her outstanding portrayal of characters in Khubsoorat, Khoon Bhari Mang, and Khiladiyon ka Khiladi. Her portrayal of a courtesan in Umrao Jaan won her the National Award.
She resonates classical beauty and grace. Contemporary actresses such as Vidya Balan have publicly stated that they take insipiration from Rekha and aspire to be like her, starting from the very core of her dressing sense.
