Rock On was released in 2008 and was appreciated by all viewers for its music. And now after 8 years, Rock On 2 is about to hit the screens and the addition to the star cast is Shraddha Kapoor. Once again, the music has been helmed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The jukebox is out and here's our music review.

Jaago

Farhan Akhtar is a big NO for this song and his flat singing does no benefit if we talk in terms of vocals. It's just guitar riffs which will make the song quite bearable. Farhan is only singing the song because he plays the role of Aditya Shroff and he is the lead singer of the band Magik. Siddharth Mahadevan just sings the hookline 'Jaago Jagoo', but couldn't save the song from losing its charm. Farhan Akhtar fails to impress and doesn't really connect to the listener.

Udja Re

Undoubtedly, one of the best songs in the album, Udja Re by Shraddha Kapoor will take the level of the jukebox up a notch. However, she comes as a surprise as the songs she has crooned earlier were not that impactful. Well, after this listening to the song, one thing that has to said to you, consider singing as a full-time career. Her voice variation, from the prelude to the crescendo, is just remarkable. This song is unique and you must be thinking why? Well, it's not a rock song and has its own value. Guitar riffs and drum beats match to the tempo of the song.

You Know What I Mean

Farhan, we don't know what you mean (jokes apart). But, it's a terribly boring song. You Know What I Mean reminds you of Khwabon Ke Parindey from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and you'll forget the song the minute it stops playing. Even the electric guitar, drums and guitar riffs do not save the song from being forgotten. In terms of lyrics, the song doesn't really elevate the dead singing.

Manzar Naya

Manzar Naya is a breezy song but is it an obligation to make Farhan sing. In comparison to the other songs sung by Farhan, this song won't dissappoint you much and thanks to the lyrics. Pal Pal Har Kadam, payenge hum manzar naya... the song will keep you easy because of the guitar rhythm and its soothing music.

Tere Mere Dil

By now, you'll realise that Shraddha sings well and she adds magic to the Magik in a literal sense. After listening to some tiresome music, it will work as a relief for the listeners and finally you'll breathe. Like Udja Re, this song also falls under the electronic rock category.

Woh Jahaan

Woh Jahaan is a powerful ballad. Shraddha Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar compliment each other and with heavy orchestration, the song is an ultimate winner! The solo guitar in the song makes you at ease and you just travel places. Everything is so perfect about the song - from the composition to the arrangement of the instruments and vocals. Yes, Farhan also adds perfection of the song. It's more like a rock anthem and you would want to listen to this song on a loop.

Hoi Kiw/Chalo Chalo

This is the tadka Rock On 2 has. Finally, we have a song which everyone would keep in their heads for long even after the movie releases and goes off the theatres. Usha Uthup, the trump card, makes this song fun and you can't stop grooving to it. Just put the volume high and sing along with Usha Uthup. The song has a typical north-eastern feel. It's such a song that if you are from Assam, you can do some Bihu steps! Kit Shangpliang & Pynsuklin Syiemiong sing in Khalsi whereas Usha sings in Hindi and the trio creates a magic. Acoustic guitar, drums and electronic guitar keep the vibe of the song.

Ishq Mastana

This song is the closest to the type of the Bollwood songs we hear. Ishq Mastana is a misfit, but the use of dhol, dholak, tabla and guitar makes it what it is. Digvijay Singh Pariyar, with its powerful vocals, overshadows Shankar Mahadevan.

Verdict: Well, the jukebox would have done much better without Farhan Akhtar. Overall, it doesn't disappoint much and doesn't serve as a patch on the prequel. Shraddha Kapoor, with her singing prowess, impresses the listeners. Singers like Usha Uthup, Digvijay Singh Pariyar, Shankar Mahadevan Kit Shangpliang & Pynsuklin Syiemiong add their magic to the album.

We give it 70 out of 100 on Pinkvilla meter.
