Sequels, in terms of music, have a challenge as they will always be compared to their prequels. For composer Ankit Tiwari, Tum Bin 2 would have been a tough task as the songs from the 2001 film has always been remembered for its unforgettable music. Tum Bin 2 stars Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal and Aashim Gulati in the lead roles. The film is set to hit the screens on November 18, this year and the jukebox is already out. Here's our music review:

Teri Fariyad

Teri Fariyad, from Tum Bin 2, will revive old memories and brings ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh back to life. Ankit Tiwari has recreated the magic of the original song by bringing together Rekha Bhardwaj's voice and parts of Jagjit's soulful rendition from the original. If he hadn't used his voice, it would have been difficult to match up with the original at any level. The song does trigger the nostalgic part in you and you might think of the people whom you've lost while being a part of this rat race. Guitar riffs used in the song will make you more emotional and tears will just roll down your cheeks. If you're a music buff, you would also notice how instruments like Kanoon, Turkish Clarinet and Electric Saaz have been clubbed with live guitars.

Ishq Mubarak

Ishq mubarak, dard mubarak, Teri baarishein bhigaaye mujhe, Teri hawayein bahaye mujhe, Paaon tale mere, Zameene chal padi, Aisa toh kabhi hua hi nahi, Ae mere dil mubarak ho...

Ishq Mubarak is one of the best songs in the movie and its lyrics by Manoj Muntashir deserve a special mention. Arijit Singh does it again and you'll not get tired of praising him as he has given us many memorable songs, recently. Well, the song adds up to a romantic element of the jukebox and its slow pace is just a perfect match for the track. Guitar, harmonium, tabla and dholak will lift your mood.

Dekh Lena

Sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar, Dekh Lena maintains that romance in the air. It is an out-and-out romantic number and the music will bring a smile on your face. Guitar riffs, tabla and dholak with an addition of flute makes the song more soothing. While listening to the song, you'll just recollect happy memories.

Masta

The song Masta doesn't fit the romantic genre, but, no doubt, Vishal Dadlani and Neeti Mohan have sung it well. The soundtrack will suddenly change its pace and you would just want to dance with your friends (it'll give you a house-party feel). Yes, mann ko udane do... and the song keeps you high on energy. Flute and guitar riffs will surely have an impact on you.

Dil Nawaziyaan

Dil Nawaziyaan has been sung by Arko Pravo Mukherjee and Payal Dev and wouldn't really stay for long in your head. But, the song surely keeps that chirpy mood on. Guitar intersection is the best part of the song.

Jaeger Bomb

DJ Bravo has lent his voice for this track, which begins with the rhyme Humpty Dumpty. And you wonder why this song is a part of the film? The song fails to impress in any way - be it the lyrics or the way it has been executed. No offense to DJ Bravo at all, but this song is a complete misfit. On one hand, the tempo and bass give you that party feels, but the lyrics confuse you.

Teri Fariyad (Extended Version)

It's an extended version and the jukebox ends on it and you're back to being emotional.

Verdict: To conclude, Tum Bin 2 is an average music jukebox with singers like Arijit Singh, Vishal Dadlani and Tulsi Kumar providing their vocals. You struggle with setting your emotions right and will be confused all this while. This jukebox stands no chance of a comparison with the songs in its prequel.

We give it 55 out of 100 on the Pinkvilla meter.
