It was a smart move by the makers of Baar Baar Dekho to release the remixed version of the Punjabi song Kala Chashma from the 2000s a week before the trailer launch. The film has been into the spotlight since then and Baar Baar Dekho stars Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.

As the film is nearing its release date, we give you our music review of Baar Baar Dekho.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, sung by Jasleen Royal and Prateek Kuhad, is a whispering ode to romance. The vocals in the song float in the air and makes you at peace and it’s as if one has attained the stage of tranquility.  The guitar and whistle at the end captures the mood at its best. After listening to this song, you’ll surely wonder that why did it take that long for the film industry to find Jasleen. For those uninitiated, Jasleen started her journey from the first season of TV reality show, India’s Got Talent in 2009 and she also sung for Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan's Khoobsurat. Tedhe mede raaste hain, jaadui imaaratein hain, ,main bhi hoon tu bhi hai yahaan -  lyrics by Prateek are just dreamy. This song is, hands down, probably the best in the album.

Sau Aasman

Composer Amaal Malik and lyricist Kumaar join hands to deliver Sau Aasman. This number will remind you of songs like Sooraj Dooba Hai and  Buddhu Sa Mann. It is sung by Armaan Malik and Neeti Mohan. The song has a perfect blend of country music and electronic dance music sounds. If you’re a music buff, you’ll have an idea that how intelligently the composer has used claps and finger snaps in the song and you just can’t stop grooving to the music.

Dariya

This song will take you back to doomed love story of Heer and Ranjha.  Without the high-decibel drum beats and chest-thumping rural vocals, singer Arko tries and not give it a Punjabi makeover. The song is melancholic and calls out for attention in the album. There's nothing wrong : Arko’s composition or voice, but still it is not one of the best songs in the album.

Nachde Ne Saare

Zor zor se shor wor kar, DJ gaane bajane aa

The song is pretty much about it and does make noise. This is Jasleen Royal's second song in the album and it's the staple loud wedding song. The song Nachde Ne Saare mixes electronic beats with bass and the dhol. The song also features singers like Harshdeep Kaur and Siddharth Mahadevan.

Teri Khair Mangdi

Teri Khair Mangdi is the quintessential song to cry over and yes you can say the heartbreak song of the album. The song was first produced for Saeed’s album Twelve (2013), with heavy EDM beats. Saeed composes and sings Teri Khair Mangdi. He has co-written the lyrics with Kumaar. This version is slow and seems like that of a ballad with staccato beats.

Kala Chasma

Here comes the song which ruled the charts and we can’t stop grooving to it. The song is recreated by Badshah and lyrics are penned by Amrik Singh and Kumaar. Neha Kakkar’s vocals, Amar Arshi’s voice and Badshah rapping with Indeep Bakshi give the song an ultimate Punjabi hip-hop flavour. This song will surely become one of those songs which we put on repeat mode in our playlists.

Verdict: Overall, the album is a mix of songs from all the genres. Here's the jukebox:

We give 70 out of 100 on Pinkvilla meter.
