MS Dhoni’s childhood coach REVEALS his parents want him to retire from international cricket
There have been several speculations regarding the retirement of the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni post India’s defeat in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019 against New Zealand.
In the eight innings that MS Dhoni played in the tournament, he managed to score a total of 273 runs and showcased brilliant batting in the semi-finals against the Black Caps. However, a lot has been spoken about his slow run rate in the World Cup and the 2011 World Cup winning captain was also questioned regarding his lack of positive intent in the game.
In an interview with Sports Tak, MS Dhoni’s childhood coach, Keshav Banerjee revealed that the he visited the house of the Indian batsman on Sunday. He also mentioned that Dhoni’s parents want him to retire from the national side. “Dhoni’s parents told me that the entire media is saying that he should retire, and we feel they are right. They said we can’t handle this big property anymore,” said Banerjee.
However, Coach Keshav Banerjee told the parents of the Indian wicket-keeper and batsman that they have handled it for so long, for almost around 10 to 12 years and added that they can do it for yet another year.
MS Dhoni played an extremely crucial role in India’s game of the semi-finals against New Zealand and scored a brilliant half century at the stage where the Indian batting collapsed against the Kiwis. However, despite the efforts, the team lost the semis by a margin of 18 runs and the Black Caps went on to play the final at Lord’s against the England cricket team.
