The former Indian captain is not going to be India’s first-choice wicket-keeper following the World Cup 2019 exit, reports on Wednesday claimed. Earlier it was in the news that he won’t be traveling to West Indies tour, now that is almost a certainty and further, it is said that the veteran cricket won’t be part of the first XI more often if picked in 15.
“MS will not go to the West Indies. Going forward, he will not travel with the team within India or overseas as the first-choice wicketkeeper. Rishabh Pant will take over and there will be a grooming window for him until he settles down. During this time, MS will help in the transition. For all you know, he could be part of the 15 but not part of the 11. This team needs a guiding hand on multiple fronts and wishing MS away is clearly unhealthy”. Times of India quoted sources as saying.
The reports also hinted that MS Dhoni won’t be said to ‘go’,
“He’s already proved himself to be the kind of guy who preferred ‘why’ more than ‘when’ where his career graph is concerned. He’ll go, but what’s the hurry?” Sources close to TOI added.
MS has been around for a long, long time and there is no denying to the contribution he has done to Indian cricket. However, lately, the cricketer has failed to maintain the consistency with the bat, arising questions about his place in the team.
