Mr Queen's uninterrupted rise to the top continues; Love (Ft Marriage And Divorce) comes a close second
Mr Queen continues its dominant streak in its time slot across all channels, as Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) stays strong. Meanwhile, Homemade Love Story enjoys moderate success. Read on to find out the ratings battle.
Mr Queen strikes again! This whacky and hilarious gender-swap (a la Secret Garden of Joseon era) has audiences in splits. It follows the story of Jang Bong-Hwan (Choi Min Hyuk), a free-spirited modern chef who works for country's top politicians at the Blue House. One day he finds his soul swapped with that of Queen Cheorin (Shin Hye Sun) in the Joseon Era. Queen Cheorin encounters King Cheoljong (Kim Jung Hyun), who is the reigning monarch of the kingdom. Thus begins the rib-tickling banter between them.
Mr Queen may have gone into rough waters initially, for it was criticized for not portraying the Joseon era accurately. However, that didn't dampen the resounding ratings the show has gotten since inception. According to Nielsen Korea via Soompi, tvN’s hit drama Mr Queen continued its winning streak at first place in its time slot across all channels, even including public broadcast networks. Nielsen Korea further stated that the latest episode of the drama scored an average nationwide rating of 14.8 percent and a peak of 17.7 percent, marking a slight increase in viewership from the night before.
Mr Queen is quite the hit among its core demographic audience. It retained the number one spot in its time slot across all channels (including public broadcast networks), among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49, with whom it scored an average nationwide rating of 8.5 percent and a peak of 9.8 percent.
TV Chosun's Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) stayed strong, despite airing in the same time slot as Mr Queen. The latest episode of the drama scored an average nationwide rating of 8.1 percent. This is a slight dip in the ratings as compared to the previous episode.
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's Homemade Love Story enjoys a moderate success, with a slight increase in viewership for its latest episode, which scored average nationwide ratings of 31.4 percent and 32.8 percent for its two parts.
Mr Queen airs every Saturday-Sunday at 9 pm KST on tvN.
