Student of the Year is an upcoming comedy directed by Karan Johar, starring new comers Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The film is produced by Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan under the banner of Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment.The film is to be released on 19 October 2012
Alia Bhatt is the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Varun Dhawan is the son of director David Dhawan. It also stars Boman Irani's son Kayoze Irani.
