Even though the Men in Blue have fixed their spot in the race for the semi-finals in this on-going World Cup 2019 tournament, several problems still continue for the team. The middle order of the team has been unable to deliver with the bat and team struggled in the past few matches. Indian opener, Rohit Sharma who has smashed four centuries in the tournament and skipper, Virat Kohli who has scored five consecutive 50s in this World Cup are the only two reliable batsmen for the Men in Blue.

Former Indian skipper, Mohammad Azharuddin suggested that the Men in Blue should give a chance to the Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who is yet to play a match in this World Cup. Jadeja has been exceptionally useful to the team as a substitute fielder but hasn’t played a single match in the tournament. Mohammad Azharuddin said, ‘Maybe try Jadeja, he is a utility player.’

He also said that he thought Jadeja could have played in the last match against Bangladesh because the team had a very thin batting line-up. He also added that Jadeja on these English wickets with the ball holding up and not coming on to the bat will be a force to reckon with. “He is a good fielder and a lusty batsman. They should try him against Sri Lanka,” Azharuddin added.

Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team will encounter Dimuth Karunaratne’s Sri Lankan team tomorrow at Headingley Carnegie, Leeds at 3 PM IST.
