Kedar Jadhav credits the bowlers for defending small total against Afghanistan in ICC World Cup 2019
Indian bowling attack managed to defend a small total against the Afghans and registered their fourth win in the tournament by 11 runs.
Indian batting all-rounder, Kedar Jadhav credited the bowlers for their exceptional bowling attack. Bumrah’s much needed breakthrough in the 29th over and Mohammed Shami’s hat-trick helped the team to make a comeback in the match.
In this post match press conference, Kedar Jadhav said that the team’s actual plan was to look for around 250 but the team fell short of 20-30 runs. The team were aware that they have to make up for these runs in the fielding. He credited the bowlers for defending the small total against the Afghans.
Talking about the bowling, Jadhav revealed that they knew the team just needed one wicket to break the partnership and the next batsman would find it difficult to score. The team was just one wicket away from a crucial win and they believed in both their fast bowlers to do the job in the death overs.
When asked about the pitch, the Indian all-rounder admitted that the pitch was slow and the ball was turning a little when they were playing. He added that it was difficult to play shots when the wicket is such.
However, the team managed to defeat the Afghans by 11 runs and it was Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav who helped the team reach a respectable total of 224. Virat Kohli scored 67 runs off 63 balls whereas, Kedar managed to smash 52 off 68 balls when the team’s batting crumbled against the Afghan bowlers.
