The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday confirmed that a committee headed by former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev will appoint the team’s new head coach. At now, Ravi Shastri is holding the charge. The contract of already acting coaching staff was to be expired after the conclusion of World Cup 2019, but BCCI handed them the extension of 45 days.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA)-led BCCI, however, recently invited the applications for support staff of men’s team including that of the head coach. The applicants need to be less than 60 years of age and have at least two years of experience in international cricket.

To chose the same, the board has given the charge to Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy. The same panel had earlier chosen Indian Women’s cricket team’s coach as well. They will review the applications and make a decision. The current staff will automatically be a choice as well.

Earlier today, reports claimed that Ravi Shastri is most likely to be retained for the spot. Although that is still unclear, there could be a change as well. The deadline for applications has been set to July 30.
