Kang Ha Neul confirmed for Pyeonggang, Cut to the Heart but NOT as the lead; Son Ye Jin still in talks
It was previously reported that Kang Ha Neul was offered the lead in an upcoming Korean drama titled Pyeonggang, Cut to the Heart. The actor has joined the series but not as the lead.
A few days ago, it was revealed that When the Camellia Blooms and The Heirs star Kang Ha Neul has been approached to play the lead role in an upcoming drama titled Pyeonggang Cut to the Heart. The actor was offered to play the role of Ondal, who marries princess Pyeong Gang and foolishly loves her. The drama is a fictionally re-imagined version of the true tale of princess Pyeong Gang and On Dal from the Goguryeo Dynasty. While we were excited to see Kang Ha Neul play the role, it is reported that he has turned down the offer to play the lead.
However, the actor is still associated with the project. As per the latest developments, the actor has signed the dotted lines as a supporting character. Numerous international entertainment outlets, including AllKPop and Koreaboo, have reported that the actor couldn't accept the lead role for the dates clashed with the filming of his upcoming movie. Nevertheless, he has joined the project as a supporting role. He has been confirmed for the role of Ondal’s father, Onhyup.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Crash Landing On You star Son Ye Jin was approached to play the titular role. As per the latest development, the actress is positively considering the role.
