Jofra Archer’s father Frank believes that his son has the potential to become the Michael Jordan of cricket and also stated that he is an inspiration to many. Jofra bowled the crucial super over against New Zealand in the high intense match of the World Cup final and restricted the Black Caps to 15 runs which concluded the game in a tie. He has played a crucial role for the England cricket team throughout the tournament and has claimed 20 wickets in the World Cup.
"I told Jofra that he will become the Michael Jordan of cricket. His involvement with cricket will bring in people from all backgrounds right across social, economic and cultural factors,” said Frank Archer in an interview with the website Liverpoolecho. Frank also admitted that when New Zealand’s Jimmy Neesham hit Archer for a six in the super over, it made everyone nervous. However, he added that Archer managed to hold his nerve and that’s what great players do. He also gave credit to the English for entrusting Archer to which he repaid the faith. “And the thing is, his story will get better. This is the Jofra Archer show, and it’s just started," added Frank.
He also appreciated Archer’s batting abilities and said that even though his main job is bowling well for the team, one day there will be a story of him coming out and winning the a game for his team with the bat.
