Itaewon Class star Ahn Bo Hyun reportedly amidst discussions for a comeback with Kim Go Eun in Yumi's Cells
Ahn Bo Hyun is reportedly in talks to join Kim Go Eun in her upcoming screen comeback with 'Yumi's Cells'.
Webtoon-based dramas are gaining popularity due to their original and strong plots as well as extensive fan bases. In December 2020, it was made known that "The King: Eternal Monarch" lead Kim Go Eun would be playing the protagonist, Kim Yumi, in the drama adaptation of the webtoon "Yumi's Cells".
On March 10, it was revealed that "Itaewon Class'' actor Ahn Bo Hyun was offered a role in the drama. The artist's agency FN Entertainment confirmed that the actor is positively reviewing the offer to star as the romantic interest of Kim Yumi.
"Yumi's Cells", the webtoon, is 512 episodes long, spanning over 4 seasons, and is written and drawn by artist Lee Dong Geun. The series started in April 2015 and posted its final episode after five years and seven months on November 7, 2020. With over 3 billion views and more than 5 million comments, it is one of Naver Webtoon's most popular series. It tells the story of an ordinary woman in her 30s named Kim Yumi and the 200 different cells living inside her brain controlling her behavior in her daily life. In Yumi’s brain, different cells talk to one another to decide what action she should take. With all the Rational cells, Emotional cells, the ever-present Hunger cells and occasionally appearing Naughty cells, there's hardly a dull moment in the story.
Since the brain cells are also important characters in the story, Studio Dragon, the production firm, said the new drama will feature animated characters in the roles.
Lee Sang Yeob, known for series like "Shopping King Louie'' and "Familiar Wife", will be directing all the episodes of the series. The scriptwriters for the drama, Song Jae Jung, known for "Memories of Alhambra", and Kim Yoon Joo, known for the critically acclaimed series "Find Me in Your Memory" will be joined by the rookie writer Kim Kyoung Ran.
This is one of the most anticipated series announced so far and fans can’t help but imagine the two actors opposite each other in this drama.
