Ranveer Singh Filmfare Interview
Ranveer recently sat down with Filmfare to talk about his fantastic run at the movies this year!
Speaking about Ram-Leela, Ranveer called Sanjay Leela Bhansali a "mad genius" and said that while shooting the film he and his co-actors would be put on the spot everyday. Whether it was rehashing dialogues 10 minutes before shooting or cutting an elaborate scene into a short interaction, Ranveer felt that SLB helped him "push his boundaries as an actor." He also called SLB's brand of cinema very unique-- one without a scene-by-scene script or detailed rehearsals.
In the interview, Ranveer also spoke about his other 2013 release, the critically acclaimed, Lootera. Calling Vikramaditya Motwane a director "who is so good at his craft, that he can't make a bad film", Ranveer said that he considers the movie to be a "big success" in his career. When asked about why the movie didn't do as well as expected at the BO, he said that he thought the pace of the movie did not match the times we live in.
Ranveer also talked about the "ladies man" tag and how he was getting used to media's intrusiveness. He mentioned having a "big showdown" with a print publication for having printed a fabricated story about him and Deepika.
When asked about Deepika, Ranveer praised her for being a thorough professional, who is "warm, kind and courteous to everyone", be it an industry insider or a new member on her team. He also praised her for her balance, ease while facing the camera and efficiency in multi-tasking.
On how she has changed his life, Ranveer quipped that Deepika has made him work harder and become a better professional. He also added, " When we’re shooting an important scene, she’s very much present but she has also taken care of all her other work. Unlike me, the brat, who will switch off the phone and make others wait, she’s more responsible than I am. She’s disciplined, professional, which makes me realise I’m not any of that. I look upto her. She’s one helluva’ woman."
