Mahesh Babu is a Thorough Professional and has a Great Sense of Humour: Kajal Aggarwal
As we all know, Kajal Aggarwal is one of Southern cinema’s most popular stars. During her highly successful career she has showcased her versatility as a performer and also worked with some of the fraternity’s biggest names. In this exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, she opens up about her film Brahmotsavam as well as her rapport with the much-loved Mahesh Babu
What encouraged you to take up Brahmotsavasm?
To begin with, Brahmotsavam has a great storyline. Moreover, it brings together a fabulous team—comprising Mahesh Babu, Srikant Addala and some senior artistes. However, the biggest reason is that I really loved the character I was offered. She is an NRI girl who comes across as very headstrong as well as self-assured.
How is Mahesh Babu as a co-star? What are his best qualities?
Mahesh is a thorough professional. However, at the same time, he is a very chilled out person. Moreover, he has got a great sense of humour. As such, working with him is a great experience. I also like the way he challenges his limits as a performer by experimenting with the type of films he does.
Brahmotsavam revolves around the importance of one’s family. So please tell us more about your family and the rapport you share with them.
I come from a very close-knit family. My grandmother stays with us. Moreover, I am very close to not just my parents but also the maternal and maternal relatives. And I also share a lively rapport with my cousins. In fact, as kids we used to travel a lot especially to places like Shimla. And well we always had a lot of fun on those trips.
How different are the Southern film industries from Bollywood?
They are pretty similar and work very professionally. Moreover, these days there is a strong creative exchange between the industries. And all languages have become one. Regional cinema is getting a lot of attention now.
How did your tryst with acting begin?
Pursuing a career in acting wasn’t something that I had planned. In fact, I initially wanted to take up a career in marketing management. As such, my entry into films was quite co-incidental. When I was in college somebody shared some photos with a filmmaker. As it so happens, they liked the photos and since then there has been no looking back.
What has been the most difficult phase of your life?
Luckily, I haven’t really had a difficult phase as such. However, there have been some days which were difficult on the professional front. See, as actors we often realize that no two days are the same. Sometimes we come across challenging situations, scenes and people.
Are there any decisions you regret taking?
I don’t think so. Moreover, even if I did make any bad decisions or mistakes, they just helped me learn and grow as a person.
The remake of which yesteryear classic would you love to be a part of?
The answer is quite simple—Mughal-E-Azam. In it, I would love to essay the character of Ankarkali. That character was very vulnerable and symbolizes how love is all about the journey.
Which recent film do you wish you could have been a part of?
I would have loved to essay Tammannaah’s role in Baahubali.
What are your future plans? Do You have a wish-list of stars you want to act with?
Of course I do have a wish-list. I would love to work with Ajith and Rajini sir (Rajinikanth). Moreover, I want to work once again with Mahesh and Pawan Kalyan. On the Bollywood front, I hope to work with Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir.
