Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan is fit and available to play post injury for the West Indies tour

Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2019 tournament post his injury and was further replaced by youngster, Rishabh Pant.

Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan is said to be fully fit after recovering from the thumb fracture during the ICC World Cup 2019. He will be available to be back in action for the Men in Blue for the West Indies tour commencing from Saturday, 3rd August. India will play 3 T20s, 3 ODI and 2 tests in the tour of West Indies with its T20 series commencing from 3rd August, ODI from 8th and tests from 22nd August. The selection panel led by MSK Prasad will announce the T20, ODI and test squad for the Indian team for West Indies tour today, on Sunday afternoon.

Shikhar Dhawan injured himself in the World Cup 2019 in the game against Australia where he smashed a brilliant century contributing to the team’s win. He scored 117 off 104 balls in that game and helped the team win that match by a brilliant 36 runs. KL Rahul replaced the Indian batsman as the opener throughout the rest of the series and Rishabh Pant was called in the Indian team post his exclusion from the squad. India went on to complete its league stage with just one loss against the host and at the top of the points table. However, India lost against New Zealand in the semi-finals, ending their World Cup campaign.

The Indian opener, recently on July 18th picked up bat for the first time post injury acing the bottle cap challenge. Dhawan tweeted as, “Yuvi Paaji, here is my #BottleCapChallenge! This is the first time I am picking my bat up after my injury..feels good to be back!”
