India vs Sri Lanka, ICC World Cup 2019: India win convincingly as KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma smash hundreds
Team India won their seventh game in the World Cup 2019 as they defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets.
Team India ended their World Cup 2019 league campaign on a high as they defeated Sri Lanka convincingly by 7 wickets. Sent in to bowl first, the Sri Lankan batters had a tough time against Jasprit Bumrah, as they succumbed to 55 for 4. However, a good hundred from Angelo Mathews took the team total to 264.
A fifth hundred by Sharma in the edition, and a hundred from KL Rahul helped India chase the target easily. They are now on top of the table, but will hope that South Africa beat Australia in the last game of the league stages, so they can stay at number one and play New Zealand in the semis.
Here is how the Virat Kohli reacted.
Virat Kohli | India captain: We wanted to play good cricket. To be honest, we didn't expect this kind of scoreline heading into the semis. But that's what consistent performances and hard work get you. Really proud and happy of our team. Most amazing team to be a part of. It is a really honor to play for India. More or less everything is set. But we don't want to be one dimensional, I think the team that is more flexible on the day has more chances of executing what they want to. Obviously the dimensions and the pitches we play on will matter a lot, so we need a good balance in the side and whatever combination provides us the balance we will go ahead with that and really feel confident if we are batting first or bowling first we are covered with all dimensions. From that point of view we are happy with where we are placed.
