India vs Pakistan: Shahid Afridi congratulates the Men in Blue even before the results, ICC World Cup 2019
Virat Kohli led Men in Blue won the match against the arch-rivals Pakistan by 89 runs at Manchester
After a great start to the match in the first half of the inning, the Indian team showcased its exceptional bowling in the second. Former Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi went on to twitter to congratulate the Indian team for its much anticipated win against the Arch-rivals.
He tweeted, “Congratulations to @BCCI on a well deserved win today. The standard of cricket being played has been exceptionally high & credit goes to IPL for not only helping identify & harness talent, but also in equipping younger players with pressure handling techniques #CWC19 #PAKVIND.”
However, this tweet was posted even before the Indian team were officially declared as winners in the match. However, the Men in Blue have been extremely dominating throughout the match right from the start. Rohit Sharma’s century along with KL Rahul and Skipper, Virat Kohli’s half century helped the team reach much respectable total of 336/5 at the end of 50 overs. Their bowling line-up rose up to the occasion and restricted the Men in Green to mere 212 runs.
However, as predicted the game was interrupted by rain twice during the course of the match. Even though it didn’t affect the Indian batting, the overs were reduced to 40 in the latter half of the second innings.
India will play its next game against the Afghans on Saturday, 22nd June at Rose Bowl cricket ground.
