India vs England, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Match Prediction
Team India might struggle in this game due to their inexperienced middle order, and, hence, England are the favourites
India and England will face each other in what will be an important game in the Cricket World Cup 2019 on Sunday. While India are the only unbeaten team in the tournament with five wins, England have stuttered with three losses and desperately need a win here to stay alive in the competition.
The battle, then, between the two sides will be an important one. England, despite their losses are a strong unit, with aggressive batters right from Jonny Bairtsow and Jason Roy at the top to Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes in the lower middle order. With Eoin Morgan and Joe Root in form as well, the English batting side pack a punch, and the Indian bowlers will have to be at their A game.
While Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami have fared well, the duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will be the key here. The track at Edgbaston will help the slower bowlers, and the onus will be on the spinners from India to lead the way in the middle overs. However. Root is a fine player of spin, and if he gets going, he can possibly take the game away.
India also have plenty of issues in their middle order, with Vijay Shankar not firing as per expectations. If the duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are sent back early - and Jofra Archer might just do that - the fragile Indian middle order will struggle. Just because of the inexperienced middle order, India are on the backfoot and England are the favouritees.
