India vs Afghanistan, 1st Innings Highlight: Virat Kohli & Kedar Jadhav help India reach a target above 200
Indian Skipper, Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first against Afghanistan in the 28th match of the tournament at Rose Bowl cricket ground.
The Indian batting line-up that was in a spectacular form in the first three games of the tournament, crumbles against the Afghans as they restricts the Men in Blue to 224 runs. Rohit Sharma, who smashed two brilliant centuries and a half century in the three matches played in the World Cup 2019 got out early after scoring only 1 run off 10 balls. KL Rahul, who was promoted up the order in the absence of injured Shikhar Dhawan scored a decent 30 before losing his wicket to Mohammad Nabi.
Indian Skipper, Virat Kohli and bowler, Kedar Jadav are the only players from the team to out across a score above 50 in the game. Virat Kohli played a captain’s knock when the top order failed to perform and smashed as solid 67 off 63 balls with a strike rate of 106.35 before losing his wicket to Mohammad Nabi.
Vijay Shankar and MS Dhoni scored 29 and 28 runs respectively and tried to build a decent partnership in the middle. However, it was Kedar Jadav who helped the team reach a target above 200 with his exceptional batting of 52 runs off 68 deliveries and a strike rate of 76.47.
Afghanistan bowlers on the other hand will be extremely pleased to restrict the explosive Indian batting to mere 224 runs at the end of 50 overs. India will however, try to defend the target with the exceptional bowling skills of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.
