ICC World Cup 2019: Shoaib Akhtar lashes out at Pak skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed; calls him ‘brainless’ & ‘clueless’

Shoaib Akhtar who is known for his brutally honest and expressive emotions criticised the Pakistani skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed for the heavy loss against the Men in Blue. Pakistan lost to the Indian team by 89 runs and was unable to gain the momentum in the match right from the start. However, the former fast bowler blamed the Pak skipper for his ‘clueless’ and ‘brainless’ captaincy and held him accountable for the loss.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he mentioned that Pakistan has repeated all the mistakes that the Indian team made back in Champions Trophy. Further, he criticised the skipper by saying how can a captain be so brainless? He should have thought that the Pakistani team is slightly weak when it comes to chasing big totals. He should have taken into consideration that the team’s strength is their bowling line-up and not the batting.

Shoaib also added that the Men in Green had already won half the match by winning the toss in this big clash. However, the skipper decided to lose when he opted to bowl first and it has been a ‘brainless’ captaincy from the Pakistani side. He mentioned that the toss was extremely crucial to win the game and the Pakistani team would have been able to defend the total even if they scored 260 in the first innings. However, the Men in Blue with their all-round performance managed to put across 336 runs on board in the first innings and defended the total with ease resulting into a 89 runs victory at Manchester.

Pakistan will play its next game against the Proteas on June 23 at Lords.
