It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that in this day and age, it is the advent of the second leads. One of the most commonly used tropes in Korean dramas is that of a love triangle. 9 out of 10 K-Dramas feature a male lead, a female lead, a second male lead, and sometimes even a second female lead. However, the second female lead is oftentimes relegated to an antagonistic role whereas the second male lead is a poor lover boy who has to let go of the love of his life because he’s not the one who makes her happy. However, the second lead is almost always, without a doubt, the character that makes fans the happiest. He prompts viewers to laugh with him and cry with him too and by the end of the drama, fans are irrevocably in love with the second lead, more than any main lead could ever imagine.

Being able to make fans so incredibly happy and having them fall in love with them is not an easy feat. As such, it is obvious that actors who play these second lead characters are incredible at their art. If they were to be given main lead roles, therefore, it would be “game over” right then and there.

Hwang In Yeop

This one was a no-brainer because K-Drama fans all over the world cannot wait for Hwang In Yeop’s next project where he will hopefully, be able to play the main lead. Having stolen hearts of millions already, we wish someone would steal his now.

Ahn Bo Hyun

One of the most ruthless villains in K-Drama history is actually a soft-hearted sweetheart. It is about time that he gets recognized for his incredible talent and is offered the main lead role.

Lee Tae Hwan

Who hasn’t loved Lee Tae Hwan only for him to be forlorn by the end of his drama? Lee Tae Hwan is a powerhouse of talent and emotions and he deserves the screen time of a main lead.

Lee Ki Woo

Everyone was rooting for Lee Ki Woo in ’18 Again’ until he turned out to be the bad guy. However, that didn’t change the fact that he has huge main lead potential. His towering figure and deep voice are truly to die for.

Kwak Dong Yeon

Finally, this list would not be complete without actor Kwak Dong Yeon. Even though he has played lead roles before, we would still love may more of them in the future where he can shine in all his main lead glory.
