The X-Men franchise is back with a bang and this time, the focus is on Jean Grey (played by Sophie Turner) as she lets her inner Dark Phoenix out and goes on the path of utter destruction. X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars Jessica Chastain and also marks the returns of favourites like James McAvoy as Charles Xavier,  Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. Simon Kinberg is directing, writing and producing X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Many of the returning cast members had not been finalised initially for what would have been their fourth film in the X-Men franchise after X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse.
When Simon was asked by The Hollywood Reporter if alternate drafts were made without one or more of the original cast like Michael and Jennifer, Kinberg revealed that the team presumed the X-Men: First Class core cast would return. "When it was clear Bryan Singer was not going to direct the next movie, it was the actors that approached me about directing the next of the X-Men movies. Jennifer especially. Jen said she wouldn’t come back for another movie unless I directed it. So, I had a lot of support from them," Simon revealed.
