WWE Superstar Spectacle 2021 Results: Guru Raaj, Sareena Sandhu impress; Triple H joins the Indian celebration
Catering to the WWE Universe members based in India, a special PPV named Superstar Spectacle 2021 saw the spotlight shining on the Indian talent in the wrestling company's roster.
It was indeed a special PPV to remember for WWE's Indian fans with Superstar Spectacle 2021 shedding light on the flourishing Indian talent of the wrestling company. Taking place on Republic Day, i.e. January 26, the opening match saw NXT Champion Finn Balor take on Guru Raaj in a non-title match. While Raaj almost won the bout with a deadly high cross body off the top rope, Balor showed off his raw grit, conquering his opponent by hitting the Coup de Grace into 1916.
Nonetheless, Balor saw to it that he acknowledged Guru's impressive showing by shaking his hand inside the ring as a sign of respect. Moreover, in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match, we witnessed Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Dilsherd Shanky and Giant Zanjeer take on SmackDown Tag Team Champion Dolph Ziggler, King Corbin, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. Zanjeer showed off his brute strength by picking up Ricochet and throwing him over the top rope onto their opponents while Mysterio used Shanky's towering shoulder to leap over and hit the splash while winning a big one for his team by pinning Cesaro. Mr. 619 also got some assistance from Dilsher's boot on his back.
Next up, AJ Styles took on Jeet Rama, who delivered an impressive performance which included escaping from the powerful clutches of The Phenomenal One's deadly Calf Crusher. While it looked like Rama was setting up a huge upset with a win over Styles, Omos played party pooper and provided major assistance for AJ to hit his opponent with the Phenomenal Forearm and picking up the victory.
Intercontinental Champion Big E and his The New Day mate Xavier Woods firstly wished their Indian fans a "Happy Republic Day" before being joined by The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford). The WWE superstars then introduced Spinning Canvas, an international musical sensation, who enthralled the WWE Universe with an epic performance.
WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Charlotte Flair paired up with Sareena Sandhu and took on Bayley and Natalya. Nat had Sandhu trapped in a Sharpshooter but the latter showed her power by braving through the pain and giving way for The Queen to hit a Natural Selection onto The Queen of Harts. Hence, Sareena was able to deliver a major upset via a pinfall victory.
Before the star-studded main event, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair addressed the WWE Universe reflecting upon how monumental Superstar Spectacle truly is before he was rudely interrupted by Jinder Mahal and The Bollywood Boyz (Sunil and Samir Singh). Not taking the disrespect towards Flair too lightly, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre evened the odds by bringing along his own "three-man band of destruction" (a dig at 3MB, the wrestling stable comprising of Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater) aka Indus Sher (Rinku and Saurav).
The Six-Man Tag Team Match that followed saw McIntyre hit his old buddy with a Claymore Kick before Rinku and Saurav delivered a power-packed backbreaker-elbow drop combination for the victory.
Post the main event, the winners were joined by Flair, Triple H and the other Indian competitors as they all adorned flower garlands with Punjabi dancers splattered across the ring dancing away in celebration while everyone inside the ring clapped.
