Rob Gronkowski recently surprised the wrestling fans after he decided to say goodbye to WWE and announced that he is returning to the NFL to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2020 season. Reacting to his decision, WWE released a statement congratulating the 24/7 Champion and also took a dig at his title, stating that he will still have to defend it. “Congratulations to Rob Gronkowski, the current WWE 24/7 Champion, on his return to football. Per the rules of the 24/7 title, Gronk must defend his championship at all times in any location. He could be celebrating a touchdown pass from #TomBrady...anytime, anywhere,” the company said in the statement.

Following the announcement, Rob posted a video on Twitter addressed his WWE title and asserted that he will continue to defend it. In the video captioned “Mr. 24/7,” the wrestler said, “Yes, we need a lot of security. We need security everywhere, every tunnel, every entrance, everywhere in the stadium because I'm the 24/7 WWE title belt champion right now, of the world, and everyone's coming for me. My friends are coming for me, and it's special right now that I have it during this quarantine time because no one can find me, no one can get to me.”

Gronkowski added that he is going to watch his back to protect his title because he can get attacked at any time. “So I'm the champ for a while, I am the champ right now, and everyone's going to be coming for me. I got to have extra security but what's crazy is that the security people... it's the 24/7 belt, anyone an win it at any time. So, I better watch out. I got to watch my own back.

Just earlier this year, Rob had signed a pretty heavy deal with WWE that included him competing in several matches. However, he decided to discontinue his journey as a wrestler with the company after an appearance on Friday Night SmackDown and hosting the WrestleMania 36 event, for both the nights. The last time he was seen in action, Rob defeated pinned Mojo Rawley to the ground and became WWE 24/7 Champion.
