Will Smith backs Aladdin co star Mena Massoud after he confessed to not landing a single audition

Disney's Aladdin star Mena Massoud created a stir on Wednesday when he revealed that he had not landed a single audition since the live action's release in May this year. Starring Will Smith as Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as the stunning Jasmine, the film went on to do good business at the global box office and put actors like Naomi and Mena into the spotlight. However, things haven't turned out to be so bright for Mena. His co-star, Will Smith had some words of encouragement for him.
According to a report in Variety, Will Smith was seen on the red carpet for his upcoming animated film, Spies of Disguise, and was asked if he had any thoughts about Mena's claims. While revealing that he had not heard about Mena's claims, Will Smith said, "He is a spectacular actor, and he has nothing to worry about."
On Wednesday, Mena had opened up about his struggles to The Daily Beast and said, "I’m kind of tired of staying quiet about it. I want people to know that it’s not always dandelions and roses when you’re doing something like Aladdin. ‘He must have made millions. He must be getting all these offers.’ It’s none of those things. I haven’t had a single audition since Aladdin came out." He added that he feels 'overlooked' and it might continue for a long time. Saying that its's 'not always what you think' Mena added, “It’s wild to a lot of people.
