WARNING: This story is packed with Avengers: Endgame spoilers. Avengers: Endgame released over the weekend. The movie revealed the core Avengers took revenge from Thanos and brought the dead Avengers back to life. The MCU movie also pulled the plug on a few Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. This included Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man. While fans were expecting that Captain America would also meet his death, the Marvel Studios movie gave an alternative end to Steve Rogers' life.
Turns out, Chris Evans had already revealed Captain America's fate during a promotional event of Avengers: Endgame in China earlier this month. While he did not reveal scene by scene events, he gave an outline of the outcome.
A fan quizzed Chris if he had the Time Stone and go back to any MCU movie released in the past decade, which one would he go and how would he change it. The actor said he would want Steve to go back to Peggy Carter.
"If I had the time stone, I think Steve Rogers would be interested in pursuing a relationship with Peggy Carter. Honestly, the Time Stone, if he can go anywhere, he's a man out of time, he's had to reconcile the fact that he's not from this place and Peggy Carter really represents a love," he said, as per a ComicBook.com report.
That was more or less the end Steve had in the Endgame. While he didn't necessarily travel back with the Time Stone, he did get an opportunity to go back into time. He went back to place the Infinity Stones back and eventually decided to stay back in time to grow old with Peggy.
Avengers: Endgame has opened with a massive box office collection at the worldwide box office. The movie earned a mammoth $1.22 billion global debut. In India, the movie is pacing towards entering the Rs 200-crore club.
