Toy Story 2's casting couch blooper subtly deleted post #MeToo movement
A casting couch blooper sequence between Stinky Pete aka Prospector and two Barbie Dolls has been deleted from Toy Story 2, following the #MeToo movement. Read below for more details.
It was in 1999 when we got to know more about the lives of our favourite sentient toys Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 2. The storyline sees Woody being kidnapped by a toy collector and Buzz going out of his way to save his best friend. However, when Woody encounters his past through the characters Stinky Pete aka Prospector, Jessie and Bullseye, Woody is tempted to say goodbye to his life with Andy. One of the best parts of the Toy Story franchise is the fake blooper reel, which shows these animated characters goof up, like how normal actors do between shots.
However, users from online forums came across a paticular blooper which seemed to be in poor taste. According to The Guardian, the blooper sequence involves Prospector and two Barbie dolls and insinuates on the casting couch. In the sequence, Pete is seen chatting flirtatiously with their Barbie dolls while caressing their hands and suggesting that he could get them a part in the next movie. Casting Couch is an ill-practice in the world of movies used by the powerful to trick innocent struggling actors with the dream of getting the big break.

The #MeToo movement went rampant across the world with the fall of Harvey Weinstein in 2017. Hence, Disney has subtly made changes in the latest home releases of Toy Story 2 by deleting the casting couch blooper sequence.
John Lasseter, who directed Toy Story 2 had to part ways with Disney in 2017 with the rise of the #MeToo movement. Several allegations of misconduct were put forward about John who had then said, "I especially want to apologize to anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of an unwanted hug or any other gesture they felt crossed the line in any way, shape, or form."
