Tom Hiddleston auditioned for Thor instead of Loki & FAILED miserably; Says Chris Hemsworth was right choice
Tom Hiddleston is all set to reprise Loki in his standalone Disney + show based on the MCU character. But before he could wear his horned crown, Hiddleston recalled the time he wanted to lift Thor's Mjölnir.
Hands down, Tom Hiddleston is the best Loki that the Marvel Cinematic Universe would see. The British actor, who entered the MCU as the God of Mischief in Thor, featured in a slew of Marvel movies including The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and his cameo in Avengers: Endgame. While he proved that there could be no better Loki than him, the actor auditioned for Thor. MCU fans are already aware that Hiddleston stepped into the Marvel Studios hoping to be worthy of the Mjölnir.
Hiddleston revisited his audition when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy played Hiddleston's Thor audition tape on the show and before he could play it, a sense of embarrassment overtakes Hiddleston. "I didn't audition for Loki, I just auditioned for Thor," Hiddleston says before Jimmy plays the audition clip. "For a second" Hiddleston thought he could be Thor.
After the audition clip is played, Hiddleston admits that Chris Hemsworth was the "right actor" to play Thor.
With 2020, Hiddleston will dive into the making of his standalone series for Disney+ titled Loki. The actor reprises his role from the Thor franchise in the series. While the actor refused to disclose details about the new series, he reconfirmed that the filming begins early next year.
