Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi REVEALS how James Gunn approached him for Suicide Squad 2
After Jojo Rabbit, Taika Waititi will be seen in James Gunn's Suicide Squad 2. The Thor: Love and Thunder director confirmed his involvement in the DC movie.
Before he sits on the director's chair for Thor: Love and Thunder, Taika Waititi will be filming for Suicide Squad 2. The Marvel director stars in fellow Marvel director James Gunn's first DCEU project. Gunn announced that Waititi will join John Cena, Peter Capaldi, Idris Elba, John Cena, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, David Dastmalchian and Daniela Melchior along with the OG stars Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney to star in Suicide Squad 2. A few weeks ago, Gunn confirmed the filming has begun.
While paparazzi spotted Cena, Viola Davis and Idris Elba on the sets, Waititi was MIA. In a new interview, the filmmaker-actor refused to disclose details about his filming schedule for the movie or his character details. However, he did let fans in on how he got on board of Suicide Squad 2.
Waititi revealed Gunn approached him with the role. Playing it safe, he did not even slip the name of the role. “We’re mates and James said, ‘Come and do this thing. James is brilliant, and it’s just such a crazy big list of people. But I have no idea what any of them are doing," the Jojo Rabbit star told WIRED. We wonder what Gunn has in store for us! Meanwhile, Gunn has confirmed Jared Leto will not be seen in the Suicide Squad sequel. The filmmaker took to Instagram and clarified, “No one but me and a few others know all the characters in the movie, but if the Joker isn't in the film, I don't think it would be strange as he isn't a part of the Suicide Squad in the comics.”
