Now, ahead of Friday's release, a Variety report suggests that the anticipation for Taylor's album is unbelievable. The report added that the album has already seen a massive figure of one million copies in pre-sales being sold. “The anticipation of this album is extraordinary, with pre-sales quickly approaching one million copies globally,” Monte Lipman, founder and chairman of Republic Records, told Variety.
In the age of digital streaming, these numbers will serve as a true test and if the market still remains unaffected by the online medium. While the chances are unlikely, pre-sales figures suggest otherwise. Taylor Swift’s previous album, 2017’s “Reputation,” was the last album to sell a million copies in its opening week in the US. All eyes are now on “Lover” to see if it can create the same magic and achieve that goal.
Opening up about her upcoming album, Taylor Swift had told Vogue that the album is a "new beginning." The album features 18 songs.
