Star Wars: Here's what Billy Dee Williams has to say about Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher's affair
Billy Dee Williams, who we fondly know as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars franchise, gave his two cents on the three-month affair between his co-stars Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. Read below to know what Billy had to say on the same.
Before Carrie Fisher's death in 2016, the legendary actress was promoting her autobiography The Princess Diarist. One of the revelations in the book was that Carrie and Harrison Ford, who we shipped as Han Solo and Princess Leia, indeed had an affair on the sets of Star Wars: A New Hope (1976). The brief three-month relationship began during George Lucas' birthday party. At the time, Fisher was only 19 while Harrison was 33 years of age and was married with two kids. "It was so intense. It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend," Carrie had confessed to People.
When Ford was asked about the affair revelation by GQ, the 77-year-old actor referred to it as "strange," but refused to divulge any more as it was after Fisher's untimely demise. In a recent interview with Esquire, Billy Dee Williams, who we fondly know as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars franchise has given his two cents on the iconic affair. "As far as I’m concerned, I mean, I don’t care what people are—if they’re f------ each other and they’re s------ each other, whatever they’re doing, that’s fine with me. I don’t care," Bill shared with Esquire.
After the original Star Wars trilogy, Harrison and Carrie had reunited as Solo and Leia in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).
Meanwhile, Carrie will be appearing in Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker, which will mark an end to the saga that began with Fisher, Ford and Mark Hamill as the iconic trio - Princess Leia, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. Billy will also be returning as Lando in the J.J. Abrams directorial.
Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker is slated to release on December 20, 2019.
