Sophie Turner as Boy George? Game of Thrones actress reacts to singer recommending her name for his biopic
Boy George wants Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner to play his younger self in his biopic and we want it to happen.
First, it was Rami Malek’s Oscar-winning portrayal as the Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Then came critically-acclaimed Rocketman, based on Elton John’s life. And now, Hollywood is working on another musical biopic based on the life of Boy George. The yet-to-be-named biopic is reported based on the singer's early years in England and his journey to popularity after he joined the group Culture Club in the 1980s. Following the news, the Culture Club singer confessed that he wanted to see Sophie Turner play his younger self in his biopic.
The Game of Thrones star was recently seen in the X-Men Universe as Jean Grey in Dark Pheonix. The actress also kissed her GoT character Sansa Stark a regal goodbye this summer. While these two career updates were already keeping Sophie in news, George got everyone talking when he recommended Sophie's name to portray his younger self. We second his choice. The actress shares an uncanny similarity with the singer and we don't think anyone else could fit the bill like Sophie Turner.
Turns out, Sophie's on his side as well. The actress recently took to Twitter to retweet a piece of news about George's interest in casting her as his younger self and said, "I'm SO down." Sacha Gervasi, please make it happen! For the unversed, Sacha is at the helm of the untitled biopic. Just slide into Sophie's DMs, Sacha.
Before people could even start debating over Sophie's a woman, how can she play a man, George shut it down with an epic statement. He said, "One of the most interesting suggestions was Sophie Turner. [People will say] ‘she can’t play you she’s a woman,’ you know. But when I was 17, I would have loved to have been her," he said, during an interview on the radio show Fitzy & Wippa.
Dear Hollywood, make it happen! Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
