Scarlett Johansson starrer Black Widow standalone film to take place after Captain America: Civil War event?
Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow is finally getting her standalone film in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). According to a Twitter user, Sebastian Stan revealed that the film will take place after Captain America: Civil War.
*SPOILERS ALERT* Avengers: Endgame, which marked the decade-long journey of MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), saw some significant deaths amongst the OG 6 Avengers. While Iron Man and Captain America's deaths have conspired for the longest time, no one could imagine saying goodbye to Black Widow. What we understood from Black Widow's character arc in Avengers: Endgame is that the rumoured Black Widow solo movie will be taking place before the events of Avengers: Endgame. Whether it be before she became a part of Shield or after she joined the Avengers, that is up for debate.
According to a Twitter user, at a fan event in Italy, Sebastian Stan, who plays Winter Soldier aka Bucky Barnes in the MCU, may have revealed when the Black Widow solo movie would release. Sebastian apparently disclosed that the Black Widow solo film will be taking place during Captain America: Civil War (2016). If this is indeed true, we will be tracing Natasha Romanoff's journey when the Sokovia Accords were put in motion. The Sokovia Accords put restrictions on the superheroes, which did not go down too well with Captain America. Hence, we got the Civil War, i.e. Team Captain America vs. Team Iron Man.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Variety, when Scarlett Johansson was asked why a Black Widow standalone film had not been made untill now, the actress shared, "I think everything happens when it’s supposed to. All I’ll say is that I think I have a greater understanding of the character now than I ever possibly could have had before. Whatever iteration you see of this character, may or may not see of this character in the future, will be the better because of it."
