Scarlett Johansson named Forbes' highest paid actress again; Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone fail to make it
Forbes announced the highest-paid actresses of 2019. Avengers: Endgame star Scarlett Johansson topped the list for the second consecutive year. Big Little Lies stars Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman also feature on the list.
Her character might have died in the early summer release Avengers: Endgame but Scarlett Johansson rose to top the Forbes' highest-paid actress of 2019 list. The international actress has become a synonym to Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the popularity, the bank balance too skyrocketed this year and as a result, she has been named the highest-paid actress of the year for the second consecutive year. Scarlett poses a jaw-dropping earning of $56 million for the year.
Scarlett's stunning earning is courtesy an eight-figured hefty paycheque for reprising her MCU superhero role for the upcoming solo movie titled Black Widow. She also received an impressive "back-end payment" of $35 million for Avengers: Endgame. While Scarlett registered the top spot for the second year, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas slipped out of the list this year. The actress, who made their Hollywood film debut with xXx: Xander Cage and Baywatch respectively, featured in the highest-paid actresses of 2018.
Scarlett was followed by Sofia Vergara with $44.1 million earnings and Big Little Lies star Reese Witherspoon with an earning of $35 million. Her Big Little Lies co-star Nicole Kidman sits on the fourth spot with $34 million. Jennifer Aniston rounds off the top 5 highest-paid actresses of 2019 list with $28 million.
This year's list featured newcomers Elisabeth Moss and Margot Robbie. The Handmaid's Tale star stands on the seventh spot with an earning on $24 million and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star stands on the eighth spot with $23.5 million.
