Saved by the Bell fame Dustin Diamond dies of lung cancer aged 44
Dustin Diamond rose to popularity with the 90s show titled Saved by the Bell. He was diagnosed with lung cancer a few weeks ago.
Dustin Diamond has unfortunately succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 44. The actor’s representative has confirmed the news while stating that he was fighting with carcinoma for the past three weeks. According to his manager, Diamond died this Monday morning. According to the reports, his condition worsened since the last week, and was taken off the breathing machines in an attempt to provide hospice care. The actor’s girlfriend Tash Jules and another friend were by his side.
For the unversed, Dustin Diamond was battling stage 4 lung cancer or carcinoma as has been revealed by his spokesperson Roger Paul. The late actor rose to fame back in the 1990s when he played the role of Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers in Saved by the Bell. He played a sidekick and best friend to the popular show’s main character Zack Morris. Not only did Diamond appear in the original show but also its spin-offs which were also popular among the audience.
Numerous celebs have paid tributes to the late actor on social media upon hearing the sad news about his demise. Among them is his former co-star Mario Lopez who wrote, “Dustin, you will be missed, my man. The fragility of this life is something never to be taken for granted.” He also shared a throwback picture with the late actor along with the tweet. Mark-Paul Gosselaar who is also a former co-star paid his tribute to Dustin Diamond and called him a true comedic genius.
