Rush Limbaugh: Radio personality passes away at 70; Former POTUS Donald Trump calls him a ‘fighter’
TMZ recently reported that radio personality Rush Limbaugh recently passed away at the age of 70. The icon was battling lung cancer.
Radio personality and legend Rush Limbaugh, unfortunately, passed away. The conservative radio personality was on air for more than 30 years and passed away due to lung cancer, he was 70, TMZ reported. The icon previously announced that he was battling lung cancer last year and had been missing shows lately, as producers called for prayers.
The late star’s show--The Rush Limbaugh Show has been in national syndication since 1988, he wrote seven books, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by former President Donald Trump for achievements in radio during the 2020 State of the Union address. He was also inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, and his show was named most listened-to in the United States in 2019.
His controversial, often incendiary views on feminism, race, the LGBTQ community, climate change and, most recently, the pandemic were highly criticized and widely polarizing, making him an extremely divisive figure in American pop culture. Rush Limbaugh was also married four times, and divorced three times. He is survived by his current wife, Kathryn Rogers. The two wed in 2010.
After the news spread, former President Donald Trump said he spoke to Limbaugh four days ago, knowing his political ally's health was failing. "His fight was very, very courageous, he was very, very sick," Trump told Fox News Channel shortly after Limbaugh's death was announced. "In theory, he could have been gone four months ago, really. He was fighting until the very end, he was a fighter."
