Robert Pattinson on playing Batman: I was so far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect
In a recent interview, The Batman star Robert Pattinson confessed that he still doesn't "understand" how he got the part of the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves' directorial. Read below to know more about what the actor had to say on the same.
Robert Pattinson will be playing the iconic DC superhero, Batman, which previously has been portrayed by the likes of Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, George Clooney and Ben Affleck. Matt Reeves' choice for the Caped Crusader has led to a polarising reaction by DC fans. While some believe Robert will not be able to live up to the legacy of the beloved superhero, many believe that Robert may just actually surprise everyone. Even Bale has given his seal of approval to Pattinson saying that people had misjudged the late Heath Ledger as well when he was first cast as Joker in The Dark Knight (2008).
But how does the 33-year-old actor feel about playing Batman? While talking to Esquire UK, The Lighthouse star got candid about how he still can't believe that he got the job. "It’s kind of insane. I was so far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect. I literally do not understand how I’ve got it, at all," Robert shared with utmost honesty. The actor's The Lighthouse co-star Willem Dafoe believes that Pattinson surely has the perfect jaw to play Bruce Wayne.

Recently, while talking to Variety, Robert addressed the backlash he received for being cast as the new Batman to which the actor humbly replied, "To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting. It’s much more fun when you’re an underdog. There’s no expectation of you."
The Batman is slated to release on June 25, 2021.
