Singer R. Kelly was arrested in Chicago for a 13-count indictment which includes child pornography charges. Investigators plan to bring Kelly to New York to face his charges, according to reports.
Singer R. Kelly has been arrested in Chicago over a 13-count indictment, according to the New York Times. The arrest took place on Thursday as the 13-count indictment included charges of child pornography, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice, as revealed by assistant United States attorney for the Northen District of Illinois, Joseph D. Fitzpatrick. This isn't the first time that R. Kelly has been charged with indictments. In 1994, his brief marriage to Aaliyah (who was only 15 at the time) raised major suspicion.
In 2008, R. Kelly was tried on child pornography charges, which was rooted from a 27-minute tape, of which the prosecutor claimed he had sex and urinated on a teenage girl. However, the singer was acquitted after the girl declined to testify against him. In February 2019, R Kelly was accused on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Subsequently, in May 2019, 11 new charges were added to the already existing case. However, the singer pleaded not guilty for the charges.

A six-part documentary, which profiled his accusers, aired in January 2019 and brought back attention on the accusations against Kelly. It was also his interview with Gayle King in March, which had the world talking. The "King of R&B" went on a dramatic tirade calling himself innocent of all the charges. "This is not me. I’m fighting for my f*****g life!," R. Kelly spoke directly into the camera, about the accusations against him.
Investigators plan to bring R. Kelly to New York to face his charges, but it's still being worked upon. More details regarding the case will be revealed today.
