At a time when big-budget movies are striving to rule the market, a short film titled Bittu has made it to the Oscar nominations. Featuring two locals from Uttarakhand, Rani, and Renu Kumari, the 17-minute short has won the hearts of the audience in no time. The interesting fact here is that the two kids who ruled the screen with their surreal performances have never faced the camera in their lives earlier. Written and directed by Karishma Dev Dube, the film has received praises for the unconventional casting and remarkable writing.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is among the many celebs who have rooted for Bittu and its lead pair. The actress has recently joined hands to raise funds for the education of the children. This fundraiser event has been organized by Indian Women Rising, a cinema collective that backs the film to aid the education of Rani and Renu Kumari, the leading pair of the film. The film is being supported by Indian Women Rising a cinema collective founded by Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, and Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh. Initiating a fundraiser recently in collaboration with 'Educate Girls USA', an NGO founded by Safeena Husain, the team aims to raise funds for the education of the young leads.
It was only recently that Priyanka had an e-meeting with the star cast of Bittu wherein they discussed their experience of doing the movie, its nomination at the Oscars, and much more. Amid the candid conversation with the girls and Dube, the global icon expressed that she is in awe of the film and the authenticity and the reality that was expressed through the story. Later on, the diva urged her fans through a special video to not only watch the film but also extend their support to Bittu's lead pair.
