Prince William and Kate Middleton to visit Pakistan for the first time later this year; Read Details
This will mark the couple's first visit to Pakistan, however, their royal family members have been to the South Asian country before, including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and his wife.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are expected to tour Asian countries this year. And in addition to these reports, the latest one suggests that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will also be visiting Pakistan. "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake an official visit to Pakistan at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The visit will take place in the Autumn," a statement from Kensington Palace read on Saturday.
While members of the royal family have visited Pakistan before, it will be a first for Kate and William. "Her Majesty The Queen visited Pakistan in 1961 and 1997, and The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited in 2006," the palace revealed in its statement.
Just a few days ago, The Mail had reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton are likely to travel to a variety of Commonwealth countries, which could include Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and Singapore. Apart from these countries, Sri Lanka is also a possible destination on the list.
While there has been no confirmation from the Kensington Palace except about the Pakistan visit, the Palace may announce details of the trip in the coming weeks. The Mail on Sunday's report did not specify whether their kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis would come along.
Kate Middleton and Prince William had last visited India in 2016. Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be touring Africa later this year for the first time as a family.
