Prince William and Kate Middleton became the first royals to visit Pakistan in over a decade. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kicked off their five day royal tour on Tuesday as they visited a school, the Margalla Hills National Park and met with Prime Minister Imran Khan. Later in the evening, the Duke and Duchess stepped out for an evening of Paksitani music and art. For the event, Kate and William colour co-ordinated in different shades of green as they arrived in a rickshaw. Yes, you heard that right.
The humble auto rickshaw was Kate and William's choice of travel. The quirky rickshaw was complete with motif paintings and decorations. It had doors and fancy lights installed with the driver decked up in a suit. Prince William ditched his usual suit for a more traditional sherwani and looked dapper in a green outfit. The official Kensington Instagram account shared a video of the Duke and Duchess arriving in a rickshaw. "At the iconic Pakistan National Monument The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated the very best of Pakistani music and culture, as well as highlighting the prosperous UK-Pakistan relationship," the caption read.
Addressing the crowd, Prince William said, "I would like to begin by saying bahut shukria to you all for making us so welcome in your country. Stood here with this magnificent monument behind me, I am struck by the great strides Pakistan has made since its birth seventy-two years ago."
