People's Choice Awards winner Cole Sprouse TROLLS 'newcomers' Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio: Keep your heads up
Cole Sprouse beat Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt at the People's Choice Awards 2019 which took place over the weekend. The actor bagged the Drama Movie Star of 2019 for his act Five Feet Apart.
Cole Sprouse was in the mood to have some fun at the People's Choice Awards 2019. The Riverdale actor was nominated Drama Movie Star of 2019 for his act in Five Feet Apart. He was nominated alongside Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile), Lupita Nyong'o (Us), Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood), Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood), Sarah Paulson (Glass) and Samuel L. Jackson (Glass). Karen Gillan announced Cole had beat them all to bag the award.
The Sprouse twin walked up to receive the award and deliver his acceptance speech when he decided to poke some fun at his fellow nominees, especially Leonardo and Brad. Holding the award, Cole said, "To some of the other newcomers in this category, specifically DiCaprio and Pitt, just keep your heads up."
He then had some wise and cheering words for the OUATIH actors. "Don't let this dishearten you. You guys are going to be here one day. The three of us, we've had this competition for a long time. But, apparently, this is my year," he quipped.
Once he was done with the joke, Cole put cystic fibrosis in the spotlight and said, "It's a really underrepresented disease and, thanks to all you guys who came out and watched it, I think it hit its mark and we really hit our goal." The 27-year-old also thanked fans for "making this a reality," and gave a shout out to his Five Feet Apart co-stars Haley Lu Richardson, Cathy Schulman, Justin Baldoni and Claire Forlani.
