Before Oprah interview, Meghan Markle 'saddened' by attack on character amid royal aides' bullying allegations

On March 7, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's no holds barred interview with Oprah Winfrey titled Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special will be airing on CBS and all eyes will be glued to their screens as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will discuss controversial topics associated with them, especially their royal family exit. However, just days before the interview is scheduled to air, The Times published a report stacked bullying allegations against Meghan.

According to the report, Harry and Meghan's former communications secretary Jason Knauf had claimed in a complaint, made in October 2018, that two personal assistants were driven out of the household by Markle while also undermining a third staff member's confidence. The complaint was said to be submitted by Knauf in order to protect palace staffers who were allegedly bullied by Meghan and were reportedly reduced to tears at times. One royal aide, in particular, is said to have told their colleague that they couldn't stop shaking as they anticipated a confrontation with Markle.

Strongly refuting the bullying allegations by one of Markle's close advisers, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokesperson stated to People, "The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma," before adding, "She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good."

One observer pondered to People about the "timing" of The Times' report, which is just days before Harry and Meghan's highly-awaited tell-all chat with Oprah. The whole thing has reminded the observer of the old rugby saying: 'Get your retaliation in first.'
