Meghan Markle & Prince Harry won't REVEAL who are baby Archie's godparents; release details of christening
The first milestone for the new family will be a private affair and on Wednesday night The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially released details about the christening.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will celebrate their first child son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor's christening this Saturday, 6 July, the Buckingham Palace confirmed. The first milestone for the new family will be a private affair and on Wednesday night The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially released details about the christening. Considering that it will be a private affair, Meghan and Harry announced that they will share the ceremony pictures from the day some time in the future.
The announcement also revealed that Meghan and Harry won't be announcing the name of Archie's godparents. The statement shared by the Buckingham Palace reads, "Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6 July. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton. The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private."
This means that press photographers won't be allowed to click candid pictures of the family outside the chapel. The service will only be witnessed by around 25 guests, the Daily Mail reported earlier. Meghan and Harry have been determined to keep their son a 'private citizen'. This is also the reason why they chose not to add the title of prince to baby Archie's name.
Unlike Harry and Meghan, Prince William and Kate Middleton had given access to the media at the christening of all three of their children.
